L is for Leghorn

This one is truly the most classic of all chicken breeds, please enjoy the famous Leghorn.

This light breed originated in Italy, and the English name is a mispronouncation if its Italian name, "Livorno".
A great layer of white eggs, and since broodiness is a very rare occurence, they may lay up to 320 eggs in a single year. This breed is used as a layer chicken in many countries.
The leghorn is an excellent forager and keeps a keen eye out for predators. The leghorn has a very nervous and flightly nature though and tends to avoid human contact.
